Best Buy is the ONLY spot to get a Blu-ray DVD combo pack.  The addition of the beautiful presentation and unique collectible (which we have not yet seen), makes this a very desirable set and we have heard it is very limited.  The Best Buy website does not have a link to pre-order in the US, so check into your local store for details.

COSTCO: THE HUNGER GAMES DISTRICT 12 GIFT BOX SET:

Costco has put together a very elegant collector set, though it seems to be available only in Blu-ray format.  The box alone, makes this a beautiful set for avid Hunger Games collectors.  The Costco website does not have any information on pre-ordering this set online, so this may be a warehouse (aka in-store) purchase only.  Also, no price has yet been found for this set, if anyone happens to check into this, please let us know and we will update.

_________

There you have it, the most talked about versions of The Hunger Games DVD/Blu-ray. We hope we’ve helped you a bit in your decision making process.  In my opinion, it truly comes down to whether you are more into bonus content or collectibles and display value of the set.

The Target and Walmart versions both offer extra details about the making of the film, (the Target version offering more), so if you are most interested in that I would swing toward one of those.  But if you prefer to have a set you can set out for display or perhaps some more merchandise or exclusives to add to your collection, definitely take a look at Costco or Best Buy sets.

If you’re not into the “bonuses” so much, the basic 2 Disc version is still a great deal and has a lot of extra content to keep you satisfied, and is a bit less expensive for those who are on a budget.

No matter which you choose, you will finally have your hands on the film, and that to me is what is most desirable!

Please Note: This list comprises the most talked about versions, and does not presume to include all that are available.

Interview: Liam Hemsworth’s with Men’s Health

As we told you previously Liam Hemsworth is featured on the cover of the September issue of Men’s Health.  Thanks to USA Today, we have a look at more of the accompanying article in which Liam talks about The Hunger Games, Expendables 2 and so much more.

On his grueling workouts with a Navy SEAL and following the Paleo Diet to prepare for his role in The Hunger Games: “My character was spending most of his life in a state of hunger, and I wanted to get a sense of that, physically and mentally.”

training for The Hunger Games: “I literally had to wait a half hour after each session before I drove anywhere, I had to lay on the ground until I could breathe properly again.”

On changing his diet to prepare for The Hunger Games: “It was tough because I’m an eater. If I have one addiction in life, it’s probably food.”

On the star-studded cast of The Expendables 2: “There wasn’t the testosterone or ego you might expect on a set like that. Everyone was so cool and professional.”

On the moment when Jean-Claude Van Damme unexpectedly kicked him in the chest during the filming of The Expendables 2:“It was a present from him, in a weird way. I was honored to be kicked by him.”

Philip Seymour Hoffman Talks Plutarch and Catching Fire

Our new Head Gamemaker, Philip Seymour Hoffman recently spoke with EW about taking on the role of Plutarch Heavensbee in Catching Fire Hoffman discussed what drew him to the project, the books and more.

“I liked the people involved. It’s a great group of actors. It’s a great environment. And the character was something I was attracted to. It was just an interesting role. [SPOILER ALERT] He’s somebody who’s part of the revolution, but you don’t know it. The idea that somebody would be risking themselves in such an extreme way to join something that’s that dangerous because he thinks it’s the future…that’s interesting stuff, you know?”

Despite having not read the books before being considered for the role, Hoffman is now deep in research on his character. He has since watched the first film and is currently about halfway through reading Catching Fire

“It’s good,” he says. “I’ve read the script, which is true to the book — I kinda ruined it for myself. [Laughs] But I’m reading it anyway, because I really want to find out everything I need to know about this guy.”

And what about the inevitable recognizability that comes with doing a film like this?

“Things always pass over, you know? I don’t know what it will be like. But, you know, I’m not playing Katniss. [Laughs] I’m not in high-profile movies in that way too often, so it usually passes. I’m 45. I think it will be all right.”

RUMOR: Deadline Now Reporting Sam Claflin Looking ‘Likely’ For Finnick

Because someone in Hollywood is trying to give the collective Hunger Games fandom a heartattackDeadline is now reporting that rumored front-runner for Finnick, Sam Claflin, is now almost certain to get the role:

Sam Claflin has been the favorite, but he had a problem with an option owed to another studio the presented date problems. Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter stars Ben Walker, Boyd Holbrook and Tyler Hoechlin were the other competitors for that role, but it looks now like things have cleared for Claflin and that he’ll play the role. You’ve seen him in Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

It looks like the hold up with Finnick casting may have been due to scheduling conflicts. Because the character has a sizeable role in the next three films, they won’t want another studio calling him into action (like Fox has done with Jennifer Lawrence and X-men: First Class.

Rumor: Catching Fire’s Quarter Quell to Film on Oahu?

Thanks to some great detective work by our friend Crystal at Mockingjay.net, we’ve learned of a new potential shoot location for the Quarter Quell Arena.  Previously it had been rumored that Kauai would be taking on the honors, but soon after Lionsgate nixed that rumor.  Now thanks to Crystal andTim Ryan’s Reel Hawaii, we’ve learned filmmakers may have finally decided on Oahu as the island of choice.

After scouting Kauai, Maui, Hawaii island and Oahu, executives forHunger Games: Catching Fire selected Oahu as a location for four to five weeks of filming beginning as early as November and including preproduction will wrap in Hawaii just before the December Christmas break. Budget for the sequel is in excess of $100 million, sources said…

This information has not been confirmed by Lionsgate, so please treat this as a rumor for now, but it definitely sounds promising.  We’ll update when we learn more.
